Is Your Fertility Cluttered? Here’s How To Clear It This Spring
Read Time: 3 minutes
You’ve attempted to Marie Kondo-ed your wardrobe, deep-cleaned your inbox and finally got round to organising your skincare shelf. But when was the last time you decluttered your reproductive health?
Fertility isn’t just about baby-making. It’s about tuning in with your body, your hormones, your health, and what the future might look like for you, whether that involves kids, freezing your eggs, or just wanting to know your ovaries are still vibing with each other. Think of it as seasonal maintenance for your eggs.
Check in with your cycle (even if it’s chaotic)
Your period isn’t just a monthly occurrence - it’s like a report card from your body. Irregular? Painful? Gone completely? That’s your body communicating with you. Start tracking it all like it’s your new side hustle and go deeper: how long is your cycle, are you ovulating, are you feeling wiped out every month?
Get your hormones tested
Plot twist: your hormones run the whole fertility show. Get some simple blood work to check in on AMH (egg count), FSH, LH, and all the usual suspects. You don’t need to be trying for a baby to want to know. Knowledge = power = peace of mind.
Audit your “wellness” routine
We love a green juice moment, but let’s keep it real your body needs more than a turmeric latte. Are you getting enough sleep? Moving your body enough? Managing stress? Your reproductive system thrives when you’re not running on burnout and oat milk alone.
Explore your options (without the pressure)
Freezing your eggs? Skipping kids entirely? Not sure yet? It’s all valid. Spring cleaning your fertility means looking at your options now, before you’re on a deadline. Be inquisitive. Ask your doctor. Whatsapp that friend who’s been through it for some advice and insight.
Get curious about your family history
What runs in your family doesn’t just affect your health, it can actually shape your fertility, too. Conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, early menopause, or even certain genetic disorders can have an effect. Ask questions, take notes, and bring it up with your doctor. The more context you have, the better choices you can make.
Review your contraception with fresh eyes
Been on the pill since you were 17? You’re not alone. But it might be time to check in on whether your current contraception still fits your needs and your future plans. Some methods suppress ovulation, others don’t. But contrary to popular belief, none of them hit the pause button on aging eggs. Talk to your doctor and work out what best fits you and your lifestyle right now and in the not too distant future.
Fill in the (very real) nutritional gaps
Even with the best intentions (and a fridge full of greens), most of us aren’t getting all the fertility-supportive nutrients we need from food alone. Be smart with your supplementation and look for a good quality vitamin designed to support reproductive health from the inside out (*cough* OVA) targeting hormonal balance, egg quality, and cycle regularity with evidence-backed ingredients your body will actually absorb.
