Winter is well and truly here: cue oversized jumpers, early bedtimes, epic TV and endless excuses to stay in. And according to the data, it also happens to be prime time for conception too.

Did you know the colder months might actually be the most underrated season for conception?  Fewer late nights out, more duvet time, and a general vibe of “let’s not leave the house unless absolutely essential” - it turns out nature may be nudging us in the right direction.

And the science backs it up. One IVF study found high-quality embryo rates were higher in autumn and winter, and a large ART cycle study analyzing 1409 cycles reported better implantation rates in winter than in summer. Even historically, human populations tend to see conceptions peak in late winter, meaning our ancestors may have been onto something.

“Winter naturally sets the stage for your body to thrive,” says Alison Hall, OVA’s Director of Nutrition. “Longer, cosy nights mean more rest, lower stress, and space to focus on nourishing yourself. Pair that with warming, nourishing foods and the right supplements, and your body is far more tuned in to your natural fertility rhythms and ready to respond when the time is right.”

And the good news is, it doesn’t require a lifestyle overhaul.  Instead, focus on the basics: prioritise sleep, manage stress, and eat nutrient-dense, fertility-friendly meals. Gentle movement like yoga or brisk walks can help keep hormones balanced, while targeted supplements like OVAHer & OVAHim provide key nutrients your body actually needs - think Vitamin D for immune and hormonal support, Choline for healthy cell function, and a suite of vitamins and minerals that support egg and sperm health.

The key is consistency over perfection. Tiny, intentional moves - think a quick morning stretch, a breakfast that actually fuels you, or even just a few deep breaths - stack up over time and help keep your body in check, even when this season even when the season is packed and your energy isn’t.
